Description

The Intel® Enpirion® EC2650QI device, a high efficiency 6 A, 12 V DC-DC step-down voltage bus converter, represents a new way of delivering power in systems with 12 V as the primary voltage bus. The EC2650QI device uses a switched capacitor topology to create a 6 V intermediate voltage bus from 12 V very efficiently.

The EC2650QI device is packaged in a 5.5 mm x 5.5 mm x 09 mm quad-flat no-leads (QFN) package and the total solution size for a single EC2650QI device is 150 mm2. The height of the EC2650QI device is only 0.9 mm tall making this product ideal for applications that have height constraints. The user can parallel up to four EC2650QI devices to create a 144 W intermediate voltage bus if needed. 

Pairing the EC2650QI device with the Intel Enpirion low input voltage range PowerSoCs can result in a solution with a much-reduced solution size with similar efficiency performance versus a 12 V direct converter option. The EC2650QI device’s extremely high efficiency enables this architecture to avoid the common two-stage power conversion penalty.
