Fighting a Pandemic Through Technology:
One Year Later
What a year it has been. At this point in 2020, we were at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and no one knew how long it would last. Few expected that a whole year later, we would just be cautiously emerging from the pandemic’s major effects.
Healthcare systems are embracing the transformative power of technology. Electronic health records organize medical data and enable providers to share it more easily across healthcare settings. Artificial intelligence (AI) helps physicians and researchers prevent disease, speed recovery and save lives, while telehealth improves the experience, access and speed of care.
Technologies like AI, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT) are making healthcare and life sciences more connected, personalized and intelligent.
If the right policies are enacted, in the next ten years we can accelerate the creation of new therapies, provide care at a distance and support patient empowerment.
