Virtualizing the Client PC
To see whether virtualizing client PC operating systems can lower total cost of ownership while offering users more flexibility, Intel IT conducted a client virtualization proof of concept. We found that client virtualization could reduce TCO by streamlining PC client builds. Concerns included performance, security, and data migration. These issues may be resolved as client virtualization technology matures and faster processors with hardware-assisted virtualization technology become available.
