Intel® QuickAssist Technology Security SoftwareThe Intel® EP80579 Software for Security Applications on Intel® QuickAssist Technology package enables acceleration of cryptographic and packet processing on Intel’s latest system-on-a-chip (SOC) processor, the Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor.Security applications typically require significant CPU cycles for compute-intensive tasks, such as bulk cryptography or authentication algorithms, and applications such as intrusion detection and prevention or stateful filtering. When developing with the Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor with Intel® QuickAssist Technology, security processing is offloaded onto the integrated accelerators, preserving CPU cycles that can be used to add differentiating features and capabilities to the application. Depending on the software model used, the integrated accelerators can offload up to 90 percent of the CPU cycles.This SOC and software package provide protocol acceleration and acceleration of cryptographic processing for the most common symmetric cryptographic cyphers, message digest and hash functions, asymmetric cryptography, and true random number generation. The SOC processor is software compatible with previous members of the Intel® microprocessor family, enabling easy migration for current x86 applications. A wide range of security applications can be developed using this processor and software package, such as IPsec and SSL, VPN gateways, firewalls, and unified threat management appliances.
